The Global R&D Software Organization within Dematic is responsible for delivering standard software products to support a wide range of conveyor and sortation solutions, warehouse automation, and distribution operations. Development teams are distributed across multiple locations in Germany and the US, as well as Waterloo.

The Dematic Performance & Optimization team is highly distributed with members in Europe, the US and in Waterloo, Canada. We work closely with internal software development teams, customer deployment teams, support teams and directly with customers to provide monitoring, reporting, analysis and recommendations for performance and optimization of Dematic systems.

As a key member of the Performance & Optimization team you will work closely with other team members to provide a range of services, including:

  • Integration of Dematic in-house emulation/simulation tools with other in-house and 3rd party software to create a reliable, stable platform for software performance testing.

  • Automation of performance testing for Dematic iQ Optimize applications – both in-house and customer-facing – to deliver regular, statistically accurate reports of product performance.

  • Database configuration and performance tuning for Oracle and SQL Server.

  • Identifying root causes of performance issues internally and at customer/partner sites.

  • Evaluating and recommending new hardware and software based on performance characteristics.

  • Contributing to technology whitepapers on performance and optimization.


  • Experience with automated testing environment using custom, in-house tools or 3rd party applications, Windows PowerShell/batch scripts and Linux scripting required.

  • Experience with automation of Java EE with frameworks like Hibernate, WildFly/Glassfish, message queuing systems required.

  • Experience working with Windows Server and Oracle/SQL Server database environments, including basic remote installation, administration, configuration and performance tuning required.

  • Working knowledge of Selenium UI automation, Ansible automation tools and Java EE application development an asset.

  • Demonstrated outstanding team interaction and communication skills.

  • Track record of success working with cross-functional teams, with a collaborative style.

  • Proven history of problem-solving and ownership of complex projects.

  • Conversant with standard tools, processes and practices used in agile teams, including writing team test plans is an asset.

  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab, Maven, ELK stack, Jira and Confluence tools an asset.

  • Understanding of SolarWinds (Orion and DPA), DynaTrace, Windows Performance Tools and other performance monitoring tools would be beneficial.

  • Experience in warehouse logistics mechatronics subsystems would be valuable.

  • Available for occasional travel to Dematic and customer sites in North America and Europe.


Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, College Diploma in Software Development, or equivalent work experience (>3 years), with focus on automated software testing.
