We have built and operate a DNS registry and a DNS resolution platform serving the biggest Internet Top Level Domains (.com, .net and many others), two of the Root DNS servers, and a public Recursive DNS. Our infrastructure services are relied upon every day by the world’s 3 billion Internet users.

The Team:

Verisign’s WHOIS team utilizes Agile practices to build critical high-performance, highly-available Internet infrastructure and is responsible for designing and implementing new features for DNS-related services (, WHOIS, RDAP). You will be a member of this high-performing team developing the service functionality and automated testing.

The Person:

We’re looking for mid to advanced level software engineers who demonstrate:

Required Skills:

  • Experience building horizontally scalable, high performance, and highly available, distributed systems

  • Proficient with UNIX tools, preferably Linux

  • Outstanding problem solving and trouble-shooting skills

  • Excellent team player who enjoys a collaborative team environment

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development

  • 3+ years of programming with C/C++, Java, or other object-oriented languages

Desired Skills:

  • Python

  • Understanding of DNS and Internet protocols

  • Agile Scrum


  • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
