The Head of Engineering will be based in San Jose, CA, and is a senior engineering leader position responsible for guiding and managing a team of architects, developers, and DevOps. BrightInsight offers a cloud-based platform for the healthcare industry, and is used to manage, process, and store patient health data to be used for patient diagnosis and management. The Head of Engineering is expected to be an expert with cloud technologies, proficient with development of software-based medical devices, and has proven experience in building and managing a high-performing team. You will work closely with the product, development, data science, and operations team to deliver, maintain, and evolve the BrightInsight platform.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Works with the leadership team to formulate short- and long-term technical vision and plans for BrightInsight Platform

  • Provides technical leadership on architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-based platform intended for the regulated healthcare industry

  • Guide and manage technical team on medical device regulation, cybersecurity, data privacy compliance, and mission-critical reliability

  • Ensures timely updates to senior leadership about strategic and customer-critical projects

  • Responsible for building an effective team through hiring and partnership

  • Provide leadership to team members on industry practices, technologies, and third-party solutions to build an industry leading offering

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

  • Have managed teams of software architects and engineers

  • 10+ years of leadership in software engineering experience with cloud-based system, mobile applications, databases, and infrastructure

  • 5+ years of applied experience in development, release, and maintenance of software-based medical devices

  • 5+ years of applied experience in architecture, development, launch, and maintenance of public cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure)-based systems utilizing microservices architecture

  • 5+ Hands-on software development experience (Java, Javascript, Node.js, Python, etc)

  • Direct experience with emergent technologies and best practices (IaaS, PaaS, distributed systems, microservice architecture, serverless architecture, database designs, etc.)

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

  • Strong experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD tools and processes

  • Strong experience with managing and applying Scrum methodologies

  • Experience with defense-in-depth security architecture and practices

  • Preferred experience of 5+ years of similar work experience in the digital health industry
