Select the chucking device, cutting tools, tool arrangement, and cutting speeds and feeds for parts applicable to CNC machining. Machines include but not limited to: Swiss Lathes (Citizen & Tsugami), Vertical Machining Centers (Robodrills, Willemins, Chirons), EDM (Mitsubishi)
Creates and maintains multi-axis programs to create multi-surfaced sculptured milled CNC parts. Select the chucking device, cutting tools, tool arrangement, and cutting speeds and feeds for parts applicable to CNC machining. Ability to create CNC programs for all multi-axis machining centers, as well as more traditional manufacturing methods, using Partmaker software.
Build and maintain Postprocessor for the equipment on the shop floor
Witness the CNC program prove out on the machine tool and correct the programs as required.
Prepare shop process manuals and supervise the process validation portion of new program prove out.
Communicate effectively with Manufacturing Engineering, Development Engineering, plant personnel, and individuals outside the company. Communicates with Team Leaders, Development Engineers, CNC Programmers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Machinist, and Tool & Die Makers, to support requirements in their roles. Acts as a consultant in projects related to tooling and fixtures, develops and recommends solutions
Supervises and maintains the master CNC program directory, through proper file management techniques using CIMCO, to insure CNC program validity.
Plans, develops, schedules and organizes projects associated with long range planning, special projects, and other proposals to meet anticipated production needs for reports activities to the Engineering Manager
Monitors and maintains the quality and efficiency of tooling processes for manufacturing from concept to validation.
Identify and report any cost improvements.
Coordinates and assigns programming tasks to the Jr. CNC programmers and the CNC programmers. Advises programmers on newly-developed CNC programs -- debug as necessary
Assists in recommendations for new equipment and technology to meet customer needs and departmental requirements. Handles vendor related issues.
Assist in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures, and special equipment for CNC applications.

Education: High school graduate; college or technical degree not mandatory but is a definite plus
Candidate without degree must have a minimum eight years of CNC programming experience to include five years Partmaker CAD/CAM experience or equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
A basic knowledge of drafting, design, and CNC programming; and machine shop experience using CNC machine tools (metal removal).
Must be able to react to normal machine scheduling and emergency requirements to maintain a steady flow of parts through N/C equipment. Assignments may also originate from opportunities that develop in the shop.
Effectively communicate with clients and fellow employees both verbally and written in the English language. An individual must have the ability to write in a professional business manner to perform this job effectively
This position requires the ability to perform basic and complex geometric, algebraic, and trigonometric mathematical computations. It also requires the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to complex and practical situations
Ability to perform general tasks and operation of Microsoft Outlook.
Ability to create/edit documents and operate Microsoft Word.
Ability to create/design, to make edits, and maintain spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel.
