Morrison & Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm with 17 offices worldwide, has an opening for a Financial Analyst within our Financial Operations Department in our San Francisco office.

The Opportunity

Guided by department objectives and priorities, provides in-depth financial reporting and planning, ensuring best practices firmwide. Assists in analyzing complex financial data and develops recommendations based on business objectives and strategies. Ensures client services and satisfaction are attained in all areas of position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Assist in preparing and distributing monthly financial reporting packages, ensuring reporting provides critical depth and strategic focus.
  2. Prepare Actual vs. Budget and Current year vs. Prior Year analytical reports; review and manage the data integrity of all reporting sources
  3. Assist in the annual budget setting process; build framework adn drive discussions necessary to create office and departmentl budgets.
  4. Participate substantively in annual business planning and reporting process.
  5. Prepare ad hoc reports as requsted.
  6. Work closely with Finance managers and department members to deliver value through teamwork, to share information and to futher client service within and outside of department.

Ideal Candidate

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance or commensurate experience.
  2. At least 3-5 years demonstrated progression in financial reporting and analysis.
  3. Law firm or professional services background with international exposure preferred.

TEAMWORK AND APPLIED SKILLS
  1. Strong finance and accounting skills and business acumen.
  2. Must be detail-oriented and have extremely strong writing skills for executive management reporting.
  3. Advanced analytical and informaiton gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive, detailed data.
  4. Strong office technology skills, with advanced skills in MS Excel.
  5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective internal and external client relationships.
  6. Strong team skills, with proven client service oriented track record.
  7. Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities and achieve solutions under deadlines and sometimes stressful client requirements.
