Position Summary:
The Learning Specialist within Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS), provides intensive academic support to an assigned group of identified student-athletes from various sports. Duties include, but are not limited to: academic coaching of at-risk student-athletes, assessing student-athlete academic needs and monitoring academic progress. The incumbent works collaboratively with University of Idaho athletic administrators, coaching staffs, faculty, and campus academic support areas and serves as a member of the administrative staff. The position reports to the Director of SASS.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
• Experience working with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience utilizing learning strategies and developing academic intervention strategies to enhance learning for academically under-prepared students and students with education-impacting disabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to help students with motivation and engagement around academics.
• Experience in counseling and/or advising.
• Knowledge of disability regulations and laws associated in higher education.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and regulations.
• Strong commitment to academic and personal integrity.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
