The GP7000 Customer Technical Services (CTS) organization is seeking a candidate to fill an open Mechanical/Oil System engineering role. This position offers interesting and exciting insight into the widebody engine market and into the operations of some of the world's best-in-class airlines. This program is a 50/50 partnership between P&W and GE. This role also provides a rare view of the inner workings of one of our main competitors. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements. It also requires the ability to multi task across several engine disciplines and the ability to work effectively with a joint venture partner.

The GP7000 Mechanical / Oil Systems Engineer works very closely with field service representatives and airline customers to:


  • Coordinate service issue management and resolution with appropriate engineering and business partners.

  • Develop maintenance and retrofit plans that ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective engine operations.

  • Develop and implement industry support programs and fleet management strategies to resolve service challenges.


Additional responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Preparation of technical communications to customers responding to their inquiries and/or advising them of new issues.

  • Initiate Engineering Authorizations (EA's) for engine / module / piece part inspections and limits for incorporation in technical manuals, service bulletins and the Maintenance Planning Guide.

  • Provide leadership and coordination of technical hardware investigations.

  • As an active participant in the engineering CIPT, identify and drive resolution of design and service issues and drive maintenance cost initiatives for assigned hardware.

  • Review of new or changed designs for impact on airline requirements.

  • Recommend configuration standards or logistics support requirements for customer's in-service equipment.

  • Review and maintain hardware performance and reliability data/trends.

  • Develop presentations and participate in technical conferences and customer meetings.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Aerospace.

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience with Engine test, design, overhaul and/or repair engineering experience or equivalent.

  • General knowledge of gas turbine engines and experience with airline customers.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a MRO environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good interpersonal and team player qualities.

  • This position requires occasional international travel.
