The Data Science group, a growing software development and research team, is seeking an experienced engineer to assist with the development of software related to the processing, analysis, and management of high-throughput clinical genomic data for the diagnosis of Mendelian disease. The desired individual will have prior experience in a similar setting and will work on multiple stages of the software development life cycle including clinical validation and release management. Additionally, they will help maintain appropriate documentation and assist as needed with software maintenance and support.

Qualifications include:

  • 2+ years professional software development experience

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field

  • Familiarity with genomic data and methods for processing next-generation sequencing (NGS) or other high-throughput genomic data (GATK, Samtools, etc.)

  • Proficiency in at least one major scripting language (Perl, Python, or Ruby) and Linux shell

  • Expertise using Git version control

  • Experience using JIRA or similar project tracking tools

  • Experience developing grid or cloud computing pipelines (SLURM, AWS, SGE, etc.) preferred

  • Experience validating software, including developing unit tests and automated regression testing; CAP/FDA/NY State validation experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
