Job Description:

This position is responsible for performing routine and extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment under general supervision. This position works within established procedures under both verbal and written instructions.

Job Duties:

  • Replace damaged/soiled carpet squares;
  • Hang photos, signage, and artwork using prescribed methods;
  • Replace ceiling tiles;
  • Replace light bulbs and manage lamp inventory;
  • Adjust and transport furniture;
  • Adjust door closers;
  • Install, remove and adjust shades and curtains when needed;
  • Check and clean roof and storm drains;
  • Clear clogged sinks, toilets and floor drains as needed;
  • Remove & reinstall pole banners when needed;
  • Keep Facilities Shop and Storage areas organized, clean and in a professional state with the support of in-house Trades and workers;
  • Touch-up and paint small areas as needed;
  • Replace water filters on water coolers throughout campus;
  • Support events and events coordinator as needed;
  • Willingness and ability to learn and perform minor maintenance on power equipment, kitchen equipment and others;
  • Maintain and safely use Golf cart and College vehicles on and off campus;
  • Clean College vehicles and check fluid and air pressure levels, reporting any problems with vehicles;
  • Make routine trips to supply houses to purchase, pick-up materials and keep trades supplied;
  • Establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with members of department and campus community;
  • Be available for special events such as: Commencement, Orientations, Accepted Student Day, Discover Dean Days and others;
  • Must observe all safety rules, regulations, OSHA requirements, and proper handling of equipment;
  • May instruct others in proper safety practices and constructively participate in shop safety programs;
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • A High School Diploma or degree in any field from an accredited college;
  • A valid driver's license;
  • Must be physically able to carry loads of 50lbs;
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding and platforms;
  • Understanding of and a willingness to comply with electrical lock-off policy,
  • Maintain a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the work place as well as the special hazards that may be encountered such as biohazards, chemicals, etc.;
  • Ability to follow established procedures for dealing with such potential hazards;
  • Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow;
  • Ability to promptly report accidents on the job, preparing and submitting accident reports.
