Job Description:
Job Title: Regional Human Resources Director

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Regional Chief Operating Officer

ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Human Resources Team, Learning & Development Team, and Regional Recruitment Director

AVAILABILITY: Immediately

Summary: Regional Human Resource Director leads all aspects of the Human Resources function for JSL/MMA - SE. Develops and implements overall strategy, goals, and objectives for Human Resources initiatives including recruitment and staffing, compensation and benefits, compliance, employee relations, and training and development. Execute departmental objectives in alignment with overall business strategies and objectives. Participates in due diligence and onboarding of acquisitions across region.

Areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Management and Leadership of MMA - SE administration and HR team.
  • Monitor employee workload and capacity.
  • Employee hiring and onboarding.
  • Training, performance management, and employee development. Provide ongoing feedback to employees.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate programs and policies, including PTO, attendance, learning paths, and travel and expense reimbursement.
  • Regular communications with employees, including one-on-one and departmental meetings.


2. Talent Acquisition
  • Work with leadership to identify talent acquisition needs based on agency strategy and performance.
  • Work closely with regional recruiter to develop and execute strategies to identify and hire talent.
  • Work closely with sales leaders to facilitate sales hiring process.
  • Create and execute strategies that establish MMA's brand as a talent magnet, focused on talent attraction, development, and retention.


3. Employee Relations
  • Proactively work with managers and employees to address employee performance issues, investigate employee complaints, and provide guidance to management on appropriate resolution.
  • Ensure regional compliance with Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) policies.
  • Review step two disciplinary reviews before review with employee. Provide guidance and advice throughout disciplinary process.


Compensation and Benefits
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and administration of compensation and benefit programs.
  • Collaborate with benefits team to recommend competitive and cost-effective benefits strategy.
  • Facilitate annual compensation increase process.
  • Maintain fair and competitive compensation programs, including salary structure and incentive plans. Ensure execution and communication of any incentive plan.


5. Talent Development
  • Establish performance management program that ensures ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  • Develop or outsource employee and management training programs to support organizational objectives, including compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Facilitate annual succession planning review and employee mapping project.
  • Execute MMA leadership development initiatives at local and regional level.


6. Compliance and HR Leadership:
  • Ensure best-practices approach to organization's Human Resources efforts, including ongoing compliance in key areas of both federal and state requirements, minimizing liability for company.
  • Areas of attention include but are not limited to: maintenance of employee records, files, and databases, federal and state posting requirements, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, FLSA, and EEO.
  • Ongoing review of HR metrics, including turnover and retention.
  • Identify and execute goals and Human Resource initiatives that support company objectives.
  • Maintain active membership in HR related organizations, staying abreast of current HR related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with MMA severance policy.


7. Provide HR Leadership
  • Serve as HR liaison to MMA corporate HR. Answer region's questions regarding benefit programs, payroll, HR initiatives, best practices, etc.
  • Participate in HR-related due diligence for spokes and fold-ins.
  • Participate in 401(k) and onboarding processes.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for acquisitions, including Greater Good training and 401(k)/Colleague Connect orientation.
  • Ensure acquisition understanding of MMA resources, as well as responsibilities.


8. Additional responsibilities as needed to ensure successful execution of duties.
  • Participate in applicable MMA committees and support the SE leadership team
  • Any other duties that may be assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; working knowledge of employee benefit plans with 10+ years of industry experience; and demonstrated relationship management skills. Experience in a sales organization preferred.
  • Prior success and experience in managing change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR employment law, policies/practices, recruiting and benefits.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects while ensuring timely and accurate deliverables through effective problem solving and resolution skills.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.
  • Strong organizational, project planning, and management experience with proven analytical and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality. Must effectively communicate with all levels in the region.
  • Superior listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
