Job Description:
The purpose of this role is to support the assessment, development, and execution of business and job specific training programs within the business unit. This role is responsible for developing operational training objectives that align with overall business unit goals and strategies, enhancing employee job performance and quality of work. This role will ensure employees have all the necessary business and job specific knowledge, skills, tools and resources to succeed in their role. This role will collaborate with the Corporate Organizational Development and Learning team to ensure business unit and enterprise learning strategies and programs are aligned and all employee learning needs are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
  • Owner of AF Group Learning & Growth Strategy -- preserving alignment with Learning & Growth oversight committee and executive sponsor on priorities and initiative execution including resource alignment
  • Coordinates with EM Manager of Organizational Development to support the execution of enterprise-wide organizational development and training initiatives
  • Works with leadership in departments and brands to establish and execute operational training curriculum to support day-to-day business operations and develop talent to meet future needs -- including conducting periodic skills gaps assessments
  • Collaborate with training resources across AF Group and Emerging Markets to identify and implement consistent and standardized training tools and methods
  • Ensure scalability and repeatability of training by utilizing modern tools/technology and multi-channel training programs (interactive classrooms, trainer led, and self driven)
  • Coordinate with IT to educate staff on utilization of company issued technology assets and systems
  • Coordinate with EM Manager of Organizational Development and department leads to support execution of new hire and new manager training programs
  • Identifies and assess future and current job specific and business training needs
  • Determines appropriate communication strategies for operational training programs
  • Coordinates business relevant training as needs emerge
  • Manages training to ensure compliance with the Organization's policies and processes.
  • Utilizing instructional design methodologies for consistent and optimal learning
  • Manages the identification, capture and maintenance of training needs based on long-term business strategies
  • Identify, control and store any information deemed to be pertinent to the services provided, which is not available via any other means.
  • Maintain controlled knowledge items to ensure they are relevant.
  • Ensure training is available to those who need them in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Monitor training to ensure information is not duplicated.
  • Act as an advisor to business segments on training needs
  • Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies. Research cause and make recommendations.
  • Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness
  • Acts as liaison to HR and the corporate organizational development and learning team to ensure all strategies and programs are aligned

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Combinations of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE:

Seven years of progressive responsibility in an insurance industry or related environment with demonstrated technical knowledge or expertise in instructional design, organizational development or adult learning which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Three years management, supervisory or lead experience required.

  • Ability to align resources and execute initiatives successfully across a matrix organizational structure
  • Ability to articulate a vision for Learning & Growth strategy across AF Group and inspire others to support and execute initiatives to support the strategy
  • Broad understanding of all the AF Group business segments and brands.
  • Ability to translate business goals into learning and growth demands
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of insurance
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in both customer and team interactions,
  • Advanced skills in the use of technology applications that develop, manage, and support training/e-learning.
  • Expertise in taking, creating and administering training.
  • Ability to organize and work effectively with an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
  • Ability to handle multiple and simultaneous tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of groups.

Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.
