Role Responsibilities

Cigna is seeking an Information Protection Senior Advisor for its Legal and Investigative Data Services (“LIDS”) team, which provides electronic data preservation, collection, analysis and forensic services to Cigna's Internal Investigations team, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Information Security and Corporate Security; as well as to the Legal Department in support of legal holds and other legal requests; in response to discovery requests, subpoenas and civil investigative demands; in order to meet requirements for potential or current litigation; or for any other activities requiring eDiscovery. A strong technical background and a demonstrated ability to work in an often reactive, fast-paced environment is critical to success.  To be successful, the Information Protection Senior Advisor must set a collegial tone and operate as a thought partner with other in-house professionals, including those in Internal Investigations, Legal, Employee Relations, Human Resources and Information Security.  The Information Protection Senior Advisor must also partner effectively with outside counsel and external data processing vendors as required.  The ideal candidate will also be able to assist in the support of the software and hardware tools used by the team and referenced below, in coordination with other information technology professionals.

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform electronic data preservation, collection, analysis and forensic services for Cigna;

  • Respond to requests for relevant documents, communications and other data in support of Internal Investigations, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Information Security, Corporate Security and Legal, and provide forensic analysis of the collected data;

  • Conduct legally vetted computer collections (including full collections – i.e., full disk bit-by-bit imaging, as well as user file collections – i.e., collection of items created by a user such as information from the Microsoft Office Suite; One Note; PDFs; picture files, etc.);

  • Conduct email collections, Skype collections, SharePoint collections and Network Share Collections from internal network drives;

  • Assist with and document custodial interviews, conferring with and providing technical guidance to Legal, outside counsel and others on where relevant documents and data may be located, preserved and collected;

  • Provide responses to, and support and direction for all questions or requests for assistance submitted through work intake queues or team mailboxes;

  • Collaborate as necessary with internal colleagues and partners in Cigna Information Protection;

  • Use such tools as:

    • OpenText Encase Products (EnCase Investigator and Encase eDiscovery) for Computer, Network Share and Sharepoint Collections;

    • Forensic Tool Kit (“FTK”) for collecting email PST and to search and cull data; and

    • Veritas Clearwell Product for data culling, data reduction and investigation; and



  • Handle the culling of data; conduct data reductions; and either process and host data in-house, running relevant search terms and providing results, or working with outside counsel and outside vendors to do so; and

  • Assist in the support of the software and hardware tools used by the team in coordination with other information technology professionals.

Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated and strong experience using OpenText Encase Products, AccessData FTK Enterprise and/or Clearwell;

  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with the following operating systems: Windows, Macintosh, Linux and/or UNIX;

  • Knowledge and/or experience with Powershell commands;

  • A demonstrated ability to use technical tools and skills to search for relevant documents and data, including the ability to search for files and information that may exist in slack space, free space or which otherwise may have been hidden, deleted or lost;

  • Demonstrated experience with investigations and/or legal collections, and an ability to preserve, collect and provide data in a legally defensible and forensically sound manner;

  • Consistently sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong analytical and investigative skills, including an ability to not only gather potentially relevant data, but also to add investigative value by analyzing and identifying what may be most relevant;

  • Strong people skills and outstanding verbal and written communications skills;

  • An ability to present or explain complicated technical issues, including to individuals without a strong technical background;

  • A demonstrated ability to perform effectively and collegially as part of a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment;

  • An ability to be flexible and adept at reassessing priorities to ensure that internal and external expectations are fulfilled;

  • An ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects and assist with maintaining a computer lab;

  • Technical ability to assist in the support of the software and hardware tools used by the team, in coordination with other information technology professionals;

  • Self-discipline and focus, and innovative problem solving skills;

  • A diplomatic and highly collaborative team-player with the ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships; and

  • Forensic certifications such as EnCE, CFCE, ACE, etc. desired.

  • Bachelor's degree required
