Responsible for the clear communication and dissemination of all information between the Gallo Distributor and Chain Headquarter personnel. Serves as the Alcoholic Beverage and Supermarket industry expert and resource for all Chain Headquarter assignments.


  • Knows all Gallo and competitive trends in market.

  • Analyzes trends among competing chains using IRI data and offers suggestions to improve Gallo’s and the chains’ overall business.

  • Initiates, prepares and delivers creative presentations to secure Chain commitment of support for a multiplicity of programs and distribution in a given month.

  • Establishes and maintains business relationships with all levels of Chain Headquarter personnel.

  • Serves as a liaison between the Winery, Shopper Marketing, and Customer Development Teams for the distributor.

  • Knows Gallo and competitive discounts and retail pricing, offering suggestions to Gallo management on ways to maintain our competitive posture and build sales.

  • Facilitates monthly pricing and priorities to achieve sales goals.

  • Reports all pertinent information on observed market trends and Chain assignments to the Director of Customer Development on a timely basis.

  • Maintains communication with Gallo Operations and Warehouse Management to assure clear flow of all customer relations matters including, but not limited to, deliveries, credits and spoils.

  • Provides promotional information to the Gallo Distributor sales division.

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

  • Develops, coaches and mentors Category Analysts, Account Managers, and Merchandisers.  Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; rewards or takes disciplinary action as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of retail sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility, or High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of professional sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Required to be physically capable of executing all essential functions to perform the job.

  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

  • Required to be at least 21 years of age.

  • Required to lift and move up to 57 pound cases of product.


  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of Category Management analysis reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Experience analyzing IRI data.

  • Knowledge of shelf-set methodology.

  • Knowledge of pricing with everyday margins, reduced pricing, feature pricing, ads, and planners.

  • Strong verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience reading, understanding and evaluating administrative, sales and promotional materials, industry publications and account information.

  • Skilled at prioritizing workload to complete job duties under varied time constraints and maintain flexibility and accuracy when changes and interruptions occur.

  • Good presentation skills.

  • Skilled in the use of computer hardware and software including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Good leadership skills.

  • Resourceful, takes initiative, proactive, uses self discipline and perseverance.

  • Extensive knowledge of the Alcoholic Beverage industry, including knowledge of wine and spirits.
