TranSystems’ Cleveland, Ohio office has an immediate opening for a Structural/Bridge Engineer. This position includes structural design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges and tunnels along with the preparation of load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates. In addition, duties may include construction inspection services. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by current staff Project Managers. Assignments will involve travel within the continental United States. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge design and inspection, and an interest in learning and working on diverse project assignments which may include highway bridges, freight and passenger rail structures, and miscellaneous structural assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities – It is not planned to have staff report to this current position, however this position will need to be able to give direction, advice, and deadlines to the staff supporting them on projects they are involved with. It is also anticipated that this position will have interaction directly with the clients.
Qualifications – To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Some travel will be required, as well as field visits to project sites. Education/Experience – A Civil or Structural Engineering Bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years of experience is required, with a PE. Master’s degree in structural engineering preferred but not required.
Computer Skills – MicroStation, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various structural engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline including but not limited to AASHTOWare BrR, and Bentley design products, LPile, STAAD, RISA
Certificates and Licenses – Licensed Professional Engineer required. Licensed Structural Engineer with bridge emphasis preferred but not required. Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio preferred but not required.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
