The Risk Consulting Catastrophe Technical Manager position is responsible for influencing strategic direction and providing technical oversight for Catastrophe (CAT) related exposures including Windstorm, Hail, Wildfire, Flood, Earthquake, and Tsunami. The role is responsible for providing thought leadership regarding CAT trends, data, and mitigation resources.
This position is a highly technical role and will:
Monitor, evaluate, and communicate to PRS Senior Leadership on new and evolving standards, technologies, and building codes related to Catastrophe Perils
Develop position papers and recommendations on an annual basis related to CAT trends, exposures, and controls that would influence our book of business
Coordinate with UW and Products to improve our assessment of CAT related Risk and enhancements to our contract language
Coordinate and participate in CAT related marketing & educational events with agents and clients
Assist in developing process improvements for the client experience related to CAT service
The Risk Consulting Catastrophe Technical Manager position is also responsible for the management, strategic planning, and execution of PRS’s flagship client offering of Wildfire Defense Services.
This position will:
Serve as the primary liaison between PRS leadership and our service provider Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS)
Represent the business interest regarding technology pertaining to data transfer, dashboard design, and communication between WDS and Chubb IT and digital teams
Work in conjunction with the CAT manager to provide a high level of wildfire readiness for the Chubb wildfire field team, customer care team, and all individuals tied to responsibilities identified in the CAT playbook
Manage all aspects of the vendor relationship with Wildfire Defense Systems including preparing annual SOW’s, budget planning, establishing and monitoring service level agreements, and developing recommended areas of improvement
Participate in regular reviews and refinements to the wildfire playbook
Have accountability for wildfire planning, program execution, wildfire deployment and response
Be responsible for informing claims, operations, risk consulting field managers and the CAT Liaison Managers on service changes and enhancement to the wildfire program
Responsibility for managing the wildfire vendor service with Wildfire Defense Systems
Have accountability for leading efforts in an urgent and timely way with key stakeholders relative to large wildfires and CAT related events
Experience with catastrophe planning and communication
Proficient in understanding building codes, new construction material, technologies, and advancements in construction related to resiliency to severe weather
Technically proficient in methods of CAT evaluation, mitigation, and response-
especially in regards to wildfire
Ability to plan, communicate, and execute multiple projects and activities with varied deadlines and stakeholders
Experience with developing, managing, and holding vendors accountable to SLA’s
Track record of executing and producing results; operating with a strong sense of urgency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence strategy and represent the business interests for IT improvements and digital advancements pertaining to CAT related programs and connected services such as the CAT Tracker
Demonstrated track record of leading through influence and effectively working on teams and ability to hold partners accountable
Proficiency with: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook. Visio a plus
