Responsibilities

The Lean Sigma Master Black Belt will be responsible for developing, advocating, and enabling the tools and methodologies to drive UL Chemicals Division business and process excellence. This includes, but is not limited to Six Sigma, Lean, Strategy Deployment, Project Management, AGILE, Lean Startup, and others. Responsible for the development of a "Lean Culture" for UL Chemicals, specifically adapting methodologies and tools within a software business. This includes leading execution of Strategy Deployment ensuring alignment with strategies and goals to ensure a robust portfolio of projects that lead to improved customer and employee satisfaction. Serve as advocate, champion, and mentor for Belts and may be technically involved in each project/kaizen. Trains and mentors Black, Green, and Yellow Belts on Lean Sigma methodology. Develops and promotes KPI dashboards that drive desired behaviors.

  • Masters all technical skills associated with Six Sigma, Lean, Strategy Deployment, AGILE, Lean Startup, Project Management and other appropriate improvement techniques and execution frameworks.
  • Develops and shares tools, methods, and techniques to further the advancement of Lean Sigma.
  • Leads execution of Strategy Deployment ensuring business objectives and improvement initiatives align with strategies and goals.
  • Advocates and influences appropriate change and quality needs across Chemicals, including project selection.
  • Enables efforts to be felt by both UL's employees and customers.
  • Plans, supports, and provides training in the Lean Sigma methodology.
  • Leads, champions, and mentors improvement projects and identifies and works to remove barriers to insure successful completion.
  • Trains Black, Green, and Yellow Belt candidates on all UL's Lean Sigma curriculum.
  • Attends and assesses project review sessions.
  • Maintains and monitors key Quality Performance Indicators (KPI) and business dashboards that drive desired behaviors and outcomes.
  • Drives process excellence visibility and awareness across the business.
  • Develops both present and future quality and business leaders.
  • Performs other duties as directed.


Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business, Engineering or Related Technical Discipline.
  • Five years ofexperience in teaching, coaching, mentoring and consulting.
  • Two years of proven successin a leadership role.
  • Proficient in the use of project management tools and application of continuous processimprovement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent.
  • Proven Leadership Skills and Business Acumen; Performance Driven.
  • Certified Master Blackbelt.
