Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Marketing Communications Associate will develop, support and lead projects/campaigns to drive awareness and qualified leads. This person will bring strong writing and project management skills to the role, and will work closely with digital leaders, marketing managers and external creative agencies. He or she will become a brand steward and be able to effectively balance multiple projects at once, with a keen eye for detail, creativity and clear communication. 

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Drive brand and product engagement across multiple multimedia platforms via relevant, scalable content supporting integrated marketing communications campaigns

  • Collaborate with HIS marketers and digital marketing operations leaders on campaign strategies and marketing tactics to ensure execution aligns with the content plan

  • Manage analytics reporting on key performance indications from online advertising, email, social, and websites

  • Develop and write content that delivers information to audiences in a variety of formats and distribution channels

  • Guide tone, look and feel for content and visuals while adhering to brand standards

  • Advocate for continuous improvement in content and delivery to improve results that positively impact the business

  • Provide assistance and clear guidance to co-workers, team members and creative agencies

  • Support efforts related to client events or tradeshows

  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of three (3) combined years of experience in healthcare marketing communications and/or relevant marketing communications/writing/editing experience

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Demonstrable history of strong writing and project management

  • Ability to craft engaging copy and multi-level campaigns (traditional, social, digital) that adhere to the 3M brand to grow 3M HIS awareness and qualified leads

  • Ability to navigate complex work and industry environment to build relationships, gain product/industry knowledge, work self-directed

  • A minimum of at least 3-5 years of experience in healthcare marketing communications and/or relevant marketing communications experience

  • Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions regarding time, and work quickly and decisively

  • Influencing and communication skills, planning and analysis, and project management skills. Applies advanced knowledge of communications processes and technologies.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong writing skills and background

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, along with the ability to follow specific internal processes

  • A broad range of eMarketing knowledge and basic experience

  • Ability to connect content from a variety of businesses to create a unified customer experience

  • Thinking outside of functional role
