A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Supply Chain Process Improvement Analyst is accountable for meeting goals and objectives in order to maintain the company's growth rate, while leading process improvements in the Supply Chain Purchasing department, i.e. automate processes, KPI and dashboard reporting. Other responsibilities include procurement of assigned items, planning, coordinating and reviewing activities related to an assigned divisional commodity, and inventory management with the overall goal of satisfying customer requirements.

The Supply Chain Process Improvement Analyst will continue to gain an understanding of the complete supply chain by actively seeking to understand other parts of the organization and will make decisions for the greater good of the organization to ensure increased throughput, lower operating expenses, and higher customer satisfaction. This position will utilize their business knowledge and acumen to independently determine value-add areas that require focus toward service optimization and overall continuous improvement (increasing efficiency and reducing costs). The position is also responsible for developing and maximizing relationships throughout the entire supply chain.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage related KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) to measure, control and benchmark procurement processes including cost tracing and PPV analysis
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements within the supply chain to enable overall business process improvement
  • Analyze inventory levels and product demand to ensure product availability and inventory of optimum age and quality
  • Ownership and management of purchase orders to maintain optimum inventory levels and meet supplier lead times
  • Work closely with vendors, sales operations, supply chain, and operations to ensure timely delivery of quality products and provide efficient communication to support production needs
  • Conduct analysis to quantify the financial and operational impact of strategic supply chain decisions and modeling of flows, inventory levels, distribution, and transportation to ensure continuous improvement
  • Proactively manage on-time performance inventory, quality with vendors
  • Develop and maintain the supplier scorecards
  • Maintain material price lists and document/communicate adjustments
  • Negotiate the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and service level
  • Assist with the development & implementation of process changes and improvements within the department
  • Develop relationships with internal and external business partners by responding to questions and concerns, developing and analyzing a variety of reports, and assisting with integrating operations
  • Communicate to gather clear requirements and work toward fully understanding system constraints
  • Support stakeholders through detailed analysis and metrics development/maintenance dashboards to track KPI's and report on supply chain performance
  • Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals
  • Evaluate supplier performance according to KPI goals

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • This individual contributor position reports to the Director, Global Supply Chain and has no direct reports
  • The role requires up to 10% domestic travel, including overnight stays

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience OR Associate's Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience OR 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Familiar with logistics and production planning concepts
  • Buying and Purchasing abilities with general understanding of contracts and pricing
  • Strong data management abilities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Professional work experience with contract management and negotiations is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in sales, operations, operations planning, master scheduling, production planning, inventory control or production control within an MRP/ERP environment is preferred
  • Professional work experience with inventory and current production activity control techniques and applications, development and use of data query, and product produced is preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Lean theory management and material requirements planning (MRP) is preferred
  • Apics' (C.P.I.M.) Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Professional in Inventory Mgmt. Certification a plus
  • Six months of experience in a production/manufacturing environment or material control role

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
