Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a PackagingDesigner to lead the Pre-Print Project Management capability for our Huntsville, AL and Cleveland, TN business, which manufactures corrugated boxes. The role will be based in Huntsville or Cleveland and will report to the Area Sales Manager.
The Packaging Designer will be responsible for providing support and technical direction to the commercial and operations teams in the area of pre-print projects. Our designers partner with the commercial sales representatives during the product development phase (from design request and/or creative brief) and upon sale manage the process through completion. This position serves as an integral member of the GP team with direct accountability for the project management and onboarding of significant new opportunities.
These plants are located in north Alabama and southeast Tennessee and are approximately 2.5 hours apart by car. Both plants are in growing communities with lots of family friendly destinations close by. There are colleges and universities in close proximity, and both plants are in driving distance of Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, and Birmingham.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Proactively take actions to avoid potential hurdles that would jeopardize the critical path of projects being managed
Partner with sales and management to balance changing priorities and the daily challenges that arise from large complex projects
Administrative management and coordination of tasks including: requesting or generating structural drawings, graphics, proofs and samples, coordinating approvals by the various stakeholders inside and outside the organization; facilitating communication amongst different production sites, vendors, customer representatives, and sales personnel
Communicate effectively, via phone, face to face an email, to inform the project status or to help orchestrate activities required to complete the project
Facilitate meetings and conference calls to coordinate project activities and inform everyone of project status
Manage several projects simultaneously all at different stages in the product development to completion process.
Work to meet several deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail/accuracy
Travel will be necessary for some projects, on average 10% of the time.
Acquire and leverage knowledge from the designers and fill in to support them as needed
Serve as a back-up for current design team, and prospective replacement or repository of knowledge when one of them is out or leaves.
What You Will Need:
One (1) year of corrugated packaging design experience OR a degree in Package Engineering Ardios CAD capability
Experience using Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
What Will Put You Ahead?
Experience in a fast paced, high volume, made to order/stock manufacturing environment
At least three years of experience managing large strategic account projects
