Mars Wrigley Confectionery is looking for a Sales Finance Manager- Overheads & Governance - Hackettstown, NJ  

**This role will move to our office in Newark, NJ in July 2020.**

Position Summary

The Sales Finance Manager – Overheads & Governance is responsible for financial business partnership to the Mars Wrigley Sales Organization. This includes providing insights and analysis of overhead spend in order to drive best practice behaviors and achieve financial objectives. The role will lead financial planning, reporting, and forecasting overhead spend (+$300M) across all account teams. In addition, this role plays a significant role in ensuring the strength and integrity of the control environment in which Sales and Sales Finance operates. Governance activities include oversight of trade expenditure risks and financial reporting compliance, as well as delivering clear communication and training material to stakeholders. Continuous evaluations should be led by this role to ensure internal controls are designed and operating effectively, which will aid in the expectation to serve as main contact in support of internal/external audits. Directs reporting into this role will be expected to receive development opportunities and engagement-driven objectives. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and deploy financial planning, reporting and forecasting process of sales overhead spend

    • Manage overhead budget adjustments and provide guidance on overhead spend behaviors through standardized reporting and shared best practices

    • Proactively identify risks and opportunities to be subsequently shared with stakeholders, flexing communication styles as necessary depending on audience

    • Apply analytical techniques to derive financial insights to achieve business targets

    • Lead execution of period-close activities and deliver results analysis on a timely basis

    • Ownership of sales cost center reporting and organizational hierarchy changes

  2. Assess and advance, as necessary, internal controls and processes within the sales environment to reduce financial and operational risk

    • Plan and manage the execution of internal, self-audit procedures for Sales Finance, including but not limited to scope areas of trade, displays and third-party broker spend

    • Conduct walkthroughs with business stakeholders, review control testing over identified scope areas, and document results and observations

    • Proactively identify and communicate business risks and opportunities via understanding of current processes and procedures, utilizing available governance and control tools within Mars, Inc.

    • Support external audit processes including communicating and coordinating submission of requests to external auditors

    • Review audit findings and mitigation action plans, escalating as appropriate

    • Act as financial control specialist for Sales Finance, providing insights and analytical support for the Mars Wrigley US trade system

  3. Build partnerships to increase acumen, develop leadership skills, and drive engagement of associates

    • Champion strong co-pilot behaviors across the Sales organization

    • Actively engage in cross-functional interactions to build trust and credibility

    • Share good governance and financial control activities to maintain associate accountability

    • Participate and drive engagement in Sales Finance through open and fair dialogue 

    • Lead associate development plans and provide valuable feedback

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ years of relevant financial and/or audit experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills/Effective interpersonal skills and strong team player

  • Ability to manage ambiguity in a cross-functional matrix organization

  • Well-developed organization skills to manage multiple projects and priorities

  • Strong process optimization and demonstration of analytical thinking 

  • Advanced command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA

  • CPG/Manufacturing experience

  • SAP experience
