Overview

We are searching for an Electrical Engineer to apply relevant knowledge to new product development (NPD) efforts and resolve internal and external customer design issues that arise with legacy products. Using a customer centric approach, the successful incumbent will have the opportunity to interface with stakeholders in a variety of internal functions on new product development and/or to determine root cause and corrective actions needed to resolve open concerns rapidly and with excellent communication with all stakeholders. This position reports to the Engineering Manager, Protection Electronics. If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Participate in new product development and support global sustaining efforts
  • Hands-on participation on cross-functional project teams in the development of new industrial products, with primary responsibility of design, development and testing of PCB's for safety products.
  • Perform design work including embedded systems, digital and analog circuitry, power supplies and connectivity interfaces
  • Support the assurance of supply of products by resolving component obsolescence issues
  • Plan, prioritize, and complete engineering investigations on existing products
  • Investigate and provide data-backed decisions on non-conforming components
  • Investigate and provide engineering evaluations of customer product inquiries
  • Provide concise technical reports to support investigations and technical judgments
  • Develop & execute test plans to evaluate products/components
  • Coordinate agency submittals including test data, samples, and required documentation
  • Participate in design reviews for new products
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives



Qualifications

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
  • Design experience with low power electronics for agency compliance for hazardous environments.
  • Working knowledge of statistics.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated customer centric approach.
  • Minimal travel required (less than 5%).

Education and Experience Required:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.

This position is available at four different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
o Staff Engineer II: 2 years relevant experience

o Staff Engineer III: 3 years relevant experience

o Sr. Staff Engineer: 5 years relevant experience

o Principal Engineer I: 7 years relevant experience

o MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience

o PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience
