A Brief Summary of This Position:

Reporting to the Regional Controller, this position is responsible for the review and analysis of financial performance of the Valley site. This includes the completion of reports, charts and diagrams that provide a basis for comparison and evaluation. This position is also responsible for providing ad hoc analysis to support financial forecasts, internal management reporting, benchmarking and monitoring of key cost indicators. The person in this role will work closely with the site personnel to understand and explain performance variances and trends. Other responsibilities include timely and accurate completion of the monthly book close process and the weekly forecasts.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze periodic manufacturing variances including purchase cost, material usage and overhead variances
  • Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the inventory cycle count programs and activities
  • Prepare accurate, timely financial reports using Excel and Hyperion that compare and analyze current results with budgeted results and future forecasts
  • Effectively communicate the results of cost analysis performed with reliable conclusions that management can use to implement more effective operational strategies
  • Assist with cost and inventory report generation for operations management
  • Work with the site personnel to gather data and explanations to support spend and productivity analysis
  • Complete and summarize weekly forecast updates
  • Assume site controller responsibilities in Regional Controller's absence
  • Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job. Inform management of any training needs you have. Consult your management immediately if you are being asked to perform work for which you are not trained and/or are not comfortable doing because of potential safety or risk implications.
  • This position reports into the Regional Controller and has no direct reports

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years relevant experience OR Associates Degree with 5+ years relevant experience OR 7+ years of relevant experience
  • High proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel and Power Point skills
  • Strong cost accounting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High sense of urgency
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze standard to actual cost information
  • Highly motivated and self-directed worker with the ability to work independently within the context of a complex matrix organization

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • MBA or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with an annual revenue base of $50M or greater is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting and inventory reporting and analysis is preferred
  • 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience including account reconciliations, journal entries, and a basic understanding of internal controls is preferred
  • Experience with IFS systems preferred

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
