Our Application Development teams use their expertise in programming languages and software design to develop next-generation technology. They are responsible for developing the applications which track and move up to 38 million packages in a single day (4.7 billion annually). About this role:

This Sr. Applications Developer will perform application development tasks for the Master Reconciler (MRC) application. S/he will be responsible for:

  • Documenting all code changes, adhering & following development standards
  • Providing technical direction in identifying & implementing new features of zOS to develop and deploy efficient and optimized code changes
  • Supporting & promoting the reuse of assets/artifacts
  • Being part of a rotation cycle for off-hour production support

The Sr. Applications Developer provides input and support for, and performs full systems life cycle management activities (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.).  He/She participates in component and data architecture design, technology planning, and testing for Applications Development (AD) initiatives to meet business requirements. This position provides input to applications development project plans and integrations.  He/She collaborates with teams and supports emerging technologies to ensure effective communication and achievement of objectives. This position provides knowledge and support for applications development, integration, and maintenance. He/She provides input to department and project teams on decisions supporting projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with COBOL Programming, Expediter, FileAid, MVS/JCL
  • Familiar with Agile Development
  • Minimum of 7+ years of in-depth analysis, design & development experience with mainframe COBOL, JCL, VSAM files is required
  • Works independently as an application developer with responsibilities for analysis, design, coding & all test phases; strong analytical & problem solving skills; technical skills: Hands-on experience for analysis, design & development of complex business requirements; should understand ESP Scheduling and ability to create DOCUTEXT for new and existing job dependencies;  knowledge of SYNCSORT and CHGMAN utilities; knowledge of FTP of m/f files from m/f to Linux environment
  • Identifies & communicates issues appropriately to management & business users; excellent communication; motivated performer with ability to work independently in short timeframes; being detail oriented, ability to stay organized, professional, energetic & team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.  Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of m/f DB2 and CICS is a plus
