Job Description:

Job Overview: 

Establishes sales plans for accounts.  Establishes sales goals, measures and accountability with and for the team (e.g., Sales Consultants).  Identifies, implements and monitors Supervalu offerings to support customer goals.


 
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 


  • Directs consultants to obtain optimum sales in the region’s GM/HBC department.

  • Communicates all regional sales, marketing and category management initiatives to retail through the consultants.

  • Oversees all regional financial measurement components.

  • Manages merchandising personnel activities and operations including vendor management.

  • Manages merchandising account, develops programs and promotions.

  • Hires, trains and manages the GM Consultants.

  • Conducts periodic sales meetings with the sales staff to communicate region and GM/HBC Category Management objectives, promotions and set approval on all sales expectations; these meetings should be used as education and training opportunities for the sales staff and GM Specialists.

  • Directs consultants in a way which will most effectively use their skills and previous experience to meet retailer and region needs.

  • Assures written goals, objectives are met and  maintained for all accounts and major promotions for each Sales Consultant.

  • Monitors the changing retail environment to be sensitive to region and retailer needs; this includes maintaining a strong working relationship with region retailers.

  • Understands the region cluster and retail format pricing and marketing strategies.

  • Assists the region and staff to help secure and then convert new business.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • 5-7 years of retail, wholesale, management or merchandising experience.

  • Strong strategic, planning and leadership skills.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Previous people management work experience preferred.
