As a Senior Field Market Development Specialist with Pain Therapies' Interventional Vetebral Compression Fracture (VCF) team, you will be responsible for delivering on strategic market development activities at targeted hospitals, Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC), physician offices, and direct to patient initiatives in the US to help drive patient therapy access.

You will collaborate with internal cross functional team members (marketing, sales insights and alignment, clinical, medical education, sales training, compliance, regulatory), sales and sales management, hospital administrators, physicians, and KOLs.

This is a field based role with an average of 75% travel. The target region is the Western half of the US, but you may be based in other parts of the US. Proximity to a major airport is required.

A Day in the Life


  • The position will focus on Market Development efforts to provide greater patient access to VCF therapies by providing marketing and educational efforts to:


    • Increasing the number of patients that receive access to surgical intervention

    • Reduce the number of VCF Patients that are seen by a referring Physician, but not referred

    • Reduce the number of VCF patients seen by a treating physician, but not treated

    • Reduce the number of VCF patients that are not diagnosed


  • Collaborate with marketing in the design of comprehensive market development strategies to drive VCF referrals within hospital settings, referring physician offices, and with patient outreach

  • Execute on referral development programs in targeted accounts in partnership with local sales/sales management. Accountability on revenue and patient referral attainment will be set for the position within each target territory. Report key learnings and best practices internally, and to the field, to make recommendations to the business for program enhancements.

  • Collaborate with cross functional team in the design of advanced selling skills programs for sales representatives to use when driving market development efforts for VCF. Create educational models for sales to replicate.

  • Participate in VCF referring and treating physician society meetings to represent Medtronic in collaboration with other functions. Align and coordinate speakers for key programs and events.

  • Act as a liaison between downstream marketing and key accounts for downstream initiatives, such as implementation of marketing programs and campaigns.

  • Seek out local opportunities to drive referral awareness and adoption of Pain Therapies Interventional VCF products and procedures.

  • Provide recommendations and collaborate with downstream marketing to execute on campaign development, hospital marketing programs, and local Therapy Access Programs (TAP)

  • Help facilitate conversations on care pathway development to help drive greater patient access within hospitals.

  • Travel up to 75%, domestic

  • Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and long-term business strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, services, follow-on products, and/or industries.

  • Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of business and product development.

  • Performs economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities.

  • Develops business models and determines market trends to substantiate long-term prospects.

  • Coordinates with internal departments in identifying and implementing business development projects.

  • May work with sales, marketing and potential customers to determine their needs.

  • Develops and disseminates information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 4 years of marketing, market development, sales or clinical specialist experience with a Bachelor's degree, or a Masters' degree with 2+ years of experience.

  • Experience with healthcare/medical/pharmaceutical sales and/or working with hospital management through either direct employment or sales.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with or implementing patient care pathways a plus
