The Permit Manager is responsible for the oversight, administration, scheduling, approvals, and reporting of the subcontracted professional services firm(s). Responsibilities include coordination with the materials management team and construction management team to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager. This position is located at the Detroit Michigan metro area office.

MAJOR JOB ELEMENTS


  • Provide management oversight for all permit related activities of the construction project, including coordinating and scheduling special crossings, auditing construction packages, ensuring that permitting activities performed by H&M's permitting team, as well as, our subcontractors and strategic partners are in accordance with schedule and budget.

  • Ensure that permits are properly submitted, purchased, collected, tracked, and stored for H&M process and contractual obligations

  • Working with our strategic partners such as DTE to prioritize permits, track the status permits.

  • Schedule special crossings with MDOT and the different railroads

  • Performing permit related, daily tasks of which arise from municipalities, strategic partners, internal team, and customer.

  • Coordinate efforts across subcontractor platforms to ensure compatibility and integration of systems.

  • Attend weekly meetings with our strategic partners to ensure our goals our meet and complete any asks made from those calls in a timely fashion

  • Plan, conduct, and monitor work in accordance with engineering construction plans and specifications Oversee the auditing of construction packages to ensure that all CD packages going out have been properly permitted

  • Ensure subcontractors have a clear and direct path for permitting.

  • Provide upper management with data and information regarding permits for reporting purposes

  • Understand and assist in the development of project scope and estimates.

  • Provide permitting support for construction, including participation in construction planning.

  • Support schedule detail input with project controls team. Coordination and implementation of schedule with construction team. Responsible for meeting schedule commitments.

  • Set up and attend meetings with Cities, MDOT, and the Counties to resolve any issues, and smooth out the permitting process.

  • Champion safety culture throughout assigned region, ensuring completion of daily job briefings, SCOs, and other enterprise safety programs.

  • Safety commitment and impact on a safe working environment

  • Perform all miscellaneous asks from the customer and different municipalities.

  • Relaying H&M's dedication to safety and environmental policies.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have five years of permitting experience. Two (+) years in telecom.

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologies, or Construction Management preferred. Relevant project field experience may be substituted for education.

  • Must have computer skills in MS. Office programs, field applications for surveying and data management a plus.

  • Ability to communicate well, including sound written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of QA/QC and Safety programs including implementation, auditing, site evaluation, and coaching.

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, group orientated work environment
