A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Product Support Specialist Intern in the Irrigation Service department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist and support the Service department in a continuing program of technical product support/improvements in the form of service training, specialized troubleshooting, monitoring of product performance, quality, investigation of product deficiencies, initiating product improvements and dissemination of product information.

Valmont's internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Advanced Technology Service Manager and has no direct or indirect reports
  • Travel requirements up to 20% (domestic only)
  • Assist with the technical training and support of distribution/dealer service personnel
  • Contribute to the development of written and audio-visual technical educational material on assigned specific Valley irrigation equipment products and applications
  • Support the instruction of dealer personnel in the areas of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and application, erection procedures and equipment operation material on specific Valley irrigation equipment products that are assigned to him by the Director of Service
  • Aid in the instruction of staff, dealers, and end-users in field and classroom settings on circle pivots and other assigned specific Valley irrigation equipment products
  • Be involved with systems where monitor and control devices are used
  • Help develop technical information and documentation for dissemination to dealers
  • Respond to phone, e-mail and written inquiries related to assigned specific Valley irrigation equipment products
  • Use sound judgment and decisions in order to gain customer/dealer satisfaction, at the same time protecting the company's interest

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in STEM area or Agriculture
  • The ability to dedicate 40 hours a week for on-site projects in Valley, Nebraska during the summer
  • The ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
  • The ability to travel domestically up to 20%
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electricity, electronics or control systems
  • The ability to work well in a team environment with exceptional human-relation skills
  • Electrical license
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Travel expectations may reach 20%.
