Job Description

Our Manchester, CT site (formerly Advance Mold) is a full contract manufacturer of injection molds. Since 1959 we have been a leader in the plastics industry, continually utilizing the latest design and manufacturing technology. Our commitment to excellence begins with attention to every detail, from concept through mold qualification.

The Automation Engineer will be based in Manchester, CT. In this position, you will be responsible for specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications. You will be an integral part of a small automation team who will be coordinating the purchase of new automation equipment for the site, managing the construction and install of equipment, communicating with customers, debugging equipment, assisting with validation, and implementation, testing, and running of new automated equipment.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:


  • Design and engineer moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling and applications.

  • Participate in design reviews.

  • Implement cost effective automation.

  • Provide status reports as per established schedule.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.

  • Train automation technicians on proper usage / maintenance of equipment.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):


  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

  • Strong experience in automation processes (building and validating automation).

  • Experience with Servo Motors, Robots (3 axis, 6 axis), Vision Systems, PLC’s, I/O Sensors, Electro Mechanical Aptitude, Schematic/Blueprint Reading

  • NPI

  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication

  • Customer Facing

  • Project Management/Timeline Tacking

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:


  • Experience with PLC Programming.

  • Experience with SolidWorks.

  • BS in mechanical or electrical engineering (highly preferred).

  • Experience working within a medical manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
