Job Description:

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for providing educational & recreational services to youth, coordinating events & activities, completing timely & accurate documentation as required, and overseeing the program initiatives.


Social Development Services

  • Develop age/skill level appropriate programming plan for youth in assigned activity areas

  • Prepare equipment, facilities, & schedules to effectively carry out program plans

  • Effectively partner & network with other groups/organizations

  • Design and distribute informational flyers for scheduled activities

  • Manage staff & volunteers for assigned activity to ensure quality activity

  • Maintain building security and facility upkeep

Youth Services

  • Provide strong leadership and positive role-modeling for youth

  • Actively recruit youth for participation in program

  • Assess youth readiness for activity, and prepare for program

  • Complete home visits on established basis to understand environment & engage family support

  • Establish & maintain a proactive relationship with each youth & family

  • Manage youth behaviors respectfully, maintaining a positive program environment

  • Provide program outreach in a professional manner

  • Develop & maintain youth-specific integration with schools as appropriate

Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit & screen volunteer applicants, complete record checks, and select volunteers to staff activities including umpires, referees, score & time-keepers, etc.

  • Provide effective volunteer orientation, defining specific expectations & boundaries

  • Proactively supervise volunteer activities on a regular basis

  • Complete scheduling of volunteers with an effective communication & confirmation system

  • Evaluate volunteer performance of assignment

  • Renew, revise, or terminate volunteer assignment utilizing identified performance measures

Business Activities

  • Assist in program & agency budget development

  • Proactively generate program revenues to meet budget targets

  • Effectively manage program expenses

  • Oversee program purchasing and inventory control

  • Effectively coordinate program resources resulting in sound resource management

  • Develop & participate in fundraising activities as needed


  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a Bachelor's degree in a social services related field

  • Ability to drive agency vehicle

  • Prior experience working with children in a mental health setting or classroom setting preferred

  • Desire to help kids succeed
