Quality Assurance Audit Specialist
Job Description: Position Summary:
Provide assurance suppliers provide safe and wholesome ingredients and contact packaging materials to manufacturing plants through scheduled audits and ingredient evaluations.
Schedule and perform supplier facility audits (possible international travel) to assure food safety and quality to verify received data conforms to practices.
Write audit reports and request corrective actions of 'non-conformance findings' as needed and follow-up with on corrective actions.
Review supplier food safety and quality data for compliance to food safety expectations.
Perform supplier and ingredient risk assessments to determine facility food safety tier and audits.
Perform internal supplier approval (PDM, MRF, PLM) assessments, review and recommend actions based on risk.
Perform ingredient risk assessment to aid manufacturing HACCP and Preventive controls review.
Provide guidance for internal ingredient specifications.
Maintain and share up-to-date BU status reports.
Communicate with plants, buyers, R&D, and QA to ensure the receipt of safe wholesome ingredients and contact packaging material.
Communicate with Ops QA to ensure safe wholesome ingredients
Qualifications and Requirements:
At least two years of food manufacturing or auditing experience
Exceptional self-motivation attitude
Strong technical food safety and quality skill set with demonstrated track record of systems knowledge
Comprehensive knowledge of food safety systems including HACCP and preventive controls theory and methodology
Comprehensive understanding of food safety and quality risks associated with microbiological, chemical, physical and pest hazards
Strong skill set in ingredient data analysis to be able to perform supplier and ingredient risk assessments
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement continuous process improvement
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, for effective interaction with all internal and external contacts
Ability to think logically, problem solve and grasp concepts quickly
Ability to work independently
Well-developed sense of urgency and follow-through
Knowledge of MS Office, database, robust reporting systems, including SAP and TraceGains
Ability to stay calm and make sound judgement calls under pressure
