The Planning & Inventory Manager leads the team that creates the production schedule, forecasts future demand, and manages raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory, with the end goal of meeting customer needs and achieving business objectives. In addition, the Planning & Inventory Manager owns the Sales & Operation Planning Process, Master Production Schedule, and ERP planning/forecasting tools. The Planning & Inventory Manager will possess supply chain expertise, the ability to develop teams, and a proven track record of driving change.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review forecasts and demand patterns with Marketing and revise forecasts as necessary
Develop and implement appropriate safety stock levels to compensate for demand variability
Work with Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain to identify all known demand sources (scheduling agreements, distributor shipment, consignment, etc.)
New Product Launch Management/Business Development
Serve as Supply Chain PDP and/or Acquisition Integration Core Team Member
Assist with the development of launch forecasts, cannibalization plans, introduction schedules, capacity assessments and potential obsolescence exposure
Work cross-functionally to ensure seemless integration of newly acquired businesses
Develop and execute inventory optimization plans along with Manufacturing and Finance leaders
Analyze and communicate inventory performance to plan
Manage expired, excess, and obsolete inventory; provide input to setting inventory reserves
Supply Chain Execution
Support daily/weekly/monthly planning processes
Maintain forecasts and implement new forecasting methodology as appropriate
Ensure Manufacturing has the appropriate net requirements to meet customer service level expectations
Identify and communicate needs for changes to manufacturing capacity
Proactively manage service recovery in times of short supply
Lead the Sales & Operations Planning Process
Work directly with Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, and Finance to develop a monthly S&OP
Convert S&OP output to a MPS based on service and inventory goals
Establish and/or refine metrics that ensure we meet business goals. Track and report performance to metrics, including (but not limited to):
Act as primary liaison between Supply Chain and Sales & Marketing teams for supply issues.
Lead a team of support personnel, continually striving for performance improvement. Develop staff in support of achieving organizational goals. Perform administrative functions of reviews, communications, counseling and employee development. Provide clear and measurable goals intended to optimize service, cost, and working capital.
Interact with IT, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, Sales / Customer Service and Finance to insure customer issues are resolved.
Responsible for Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) including Inventory Turnover, Line Fill Rates, and Forecast Accuracy.
Serve in the role of Project Leader for key initiatives, develop project timelines and resource requirements, and manage projects through successful introduction of the proposed changes.
Remain cognizant of global economic and technological events that could affect the Company

Management - Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support. Ensure all employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented
