Job Description:

Accounting Generalist with experience in Sales & Use Tax Filing, Property Tax Filing, gathering information for Corporate Income tax filing, and maintaining current business licenses for all Cross Company locations.  Will also be responsible for account reconciliations and other general accounting duties.

Essential Functions

  • Monthly or semi-monthly filing of sales and use tax returns in 16+ states.  

  • Evaluation of exposure regarding Economic Nexus in additional states as needed.

  • Communications with taxing authorities related to new account set up, issue resolution and clarifications.

  • Facilitate relationship with 3rd party tax software that integrates with ERP system.

  • Develop a more efficient process for accrual and reporting of consumer use tax.

  • Assist with annual property tax filings.

  • Assist with collecting financial information for preparation of Corporate Income Tax Return.

  • Maintain valid and current business and occupancy licenses as needed at each physical location.

Education and Experience

  • Sales & Use Tax, other tax experience preferred

  • 3+ years accounting experience

  • 2 year business degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred

  • Basic knowledge of accounting functions and terminology required

  • Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills

  • Knowledge of accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)

  • Demonstrates consistency in values, principles and work ethic

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable

  • Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch, ERP experience a plus

  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, ability to be proactive

  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

  • Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately
