Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of DQR (Designated Quality Representative) - Advanced QA Inspector will perform product review on the behalf of the customer.

The candidate selected for this position will also perform all duties of the Advanced QA Inspector which included but is not limited to precision mechanical inspection and test of materials, parts, and tooling.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

 Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Product release activity (a distinct verification conducted independent from final inspection to ensure customer purchase order requirements as well as all customer requirements have been met before authorizing shipment of products)

  • Ensure that the FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) has been approved by the customer

  • Understand and validate specifications and requirements from drawings, PO’s, internal/external specifications

  • Verify compliance with the customer requirements and supplier documentation

  • Check documentation (from Purchase Order to Certificate of Conformity)

  • Visual inspection (marking, appearance, condition) as allowed by customer

  • Check dimensional characteristics using precision measurement equipment/devices and/or perform visual inspection (marking, appearance, condition) as defined by customer

  • Generate inspection reports and moderate computer knowledge

  • Initiate and complete all applicable forms and documentation including Customer related documents. 

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following guidelines and procedures, and complying with all applicable regulations

  • Full understanding of the following: military specifications, ANSI Z1.4 sampling plan, Source inspections (as needed)

  • System knowledge of SAP, TME and Fusion (as needed)

  • In-depth Knowledge of GD&T

  • Coordinate customer/government source inspection and DCMA lot submission

  • Generate "Certification of Conformance" (as required) and all related/supported required documents

  • Submittal of WAWF (as needed)

  • Demonstrate highest moral, ethical and legal standards

  • Eye Test will be conducted per Requirements

  • DQR Training to be performed and approved by the customer prior to assuming the DQR duties

  • Approved DQR is required to attend refresher training to ensure continued DQR

  • Other duties may be assigned

This position may require:


  • Weekend work

  • Working overtime

  • Working on holidays as needed

Basic Qualifications:


  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution

  • Minimum one (1) year as an Advanced QA Inspector in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings & specifications

  • ISO 9000 or AS9100 experience

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum six (6) months experience in the applicable customer product and specification requirements in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Knowledge of all relevant technical and quality requirements SO 9000 or AS9100 experience

  • Demonstrate proficiency with inspection tools and techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal

  • Ability to work with minimal managerial supervision

  • Ability to interpret & understand Customer QA contracts

  • Computer proficient (Microsoft Office, ERP System, and other applications)

Job functions take place in a Manufacturing setting and are subject to environmental conditions involving temperature changes throughout the year which include heat, humidity, and cold.  The worker is exposed, but are not limited to elevated noise, vibration, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 40 pounds.  The worker may be exposed to certain atmospheric conditions that involve, but are not limited to dusts, vapors, mists, and odors.  Personal Protective Equipment for some or all of the exposures listed above is a requirement to perform this job function.

Qualified applicants will be required to take and pass 3M employment testing as a part of the selection process.
