Position Summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Test and Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in Cypress, CA. The successful candidate will support engineering staff by performing research, design support, engineering calculations, testing, simple assembly and other related tasks as skills allow. The individual will be working in the test lab with integrated circuit, focal plane array and detector test engineers supporting ROIC, infrared detector and visible detector/FPA test and test preparation activities, as well as, various engineering assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct limited scope integrated circuit design support under the supervision of engineers

  • Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers

  • Work with data analysis software using macros to load raw test data into spreadsheets for performance analysis

  • Work with vacuum systems and cryogenic cooling

  • Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers

  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices

  • Complete assigned tasks on time

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree(s) Required: Associate’s Degree or 3rd Year status minimum in an Engineering or Physics curriculum

  • Degree(s) Preferred: Electrical Engineering or Physics

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • HDL language (Verilog/VHDL)

  • Linux/Unix OS

  • Cadence/Mentor/Silvaco EDA tools

  • Basic circuit design - Analog/Digital

  • Basic test lab skills - Oscilloscope/DVM/Logic Analyzer/Power Supplies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software

  • Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

Normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and local travel.
