Job Description:

Job Overview:
Oversees Centralized Traffic Department operations, ensuring that all functions are performed within Company, Distribution Center and Department guidelines and Regional goals and objectives are met.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


  • Coordinates and performs central inbound traffic activities to include daily operations of Centralized Traffic Department to ensure Company’s goals and objectives are met

  • Compiles benchmarking data for vendor and carrier negotiations

  • Utilizes and analyzes vendor delivery purchase orders for profitability using the Company’s Transportation Management Systems for (#) company distribution centers

  • Maintains distribution center’s carrier logs to ensure profitability of inbound purchase orders, verifies carrier freight bills and assessorial charges are contractually correct

  • Administers allowances and rates with vendors and carriers to ensure profitability is achieved in the best interest of the company

  • Interfaces with and supports (#) individual procurement departments and personnel company wide, (#) distribution center management teams, multiple vendors, common carriers and corporate office departments to ensure operational success

  • Ensures that carriers are complying with State and Federal Department of Transportation safety regulations

  • Reviews and analyzes customer pick-up purchase orders for profitability

  • Works with procurement to ensure customer pick up allowances are entered by item by vendor


Job Requirements:


  • 0-2 years of experience in transportation or traffic operations with the Company preferred or similar transportation experience

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing over-the-road equipment, drivers and safety, including OSHA, D.O.T. compliance and licensing requirements

  • Ability to represent the Company’s interests in negotiations with outside professionals and consultants

  • Ability to work in cooperation with others to achieve desired results

  • Possess ability to analyze, interpret and report data

  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
