This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Reporting for Minimally Invasive Therapies (MITG) business and will collaborate with functions in a highly matrixed organization, including finance operations, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Corporate Accounting and Finance.

The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for the financial analysis of the balance sheet and income statement for the Minimally Invasive Therapies (MITG) business unit to ensure compliance with US GAAP for external reporting purposes.

A Day in the Life

Perform monthly reviews of the income statement and balance sheet, creates financial review templates utilizing Hyperion Global Financial Systems/Hyperion Essbase.

Assist in the preparation of financial statement analysis and prepare s SEC supporting schedules related to quarterly and annual external disclosures.

Function as a business partner and finance liaison for the Corporate Finance function by answering questions, providing data, insight and influence into technical accounting matters.

Assist in the implementation, training and education, and monitoring and compliance with new accounting policies within the organization

Review Goodwill and Intangible assets activity and work s with local teams to ensure proper accounting when applicable.

Assist with the quarterly and annual intangibles assets and In-Process R&D impairment discussion for MITG businesses.

Assist in the review of revenue estimates and perform quarterly, and annual impairment calculations related to IPR&D assets by using relief from royalty and multi period excess earnings methods.

Prepare the annual analysis memos related to amortizable asset group impairment testing.

Serve as a point of contact for technical accounting inquiries and partner with business contacts to advise on optimal accounting treatment for various transactions.

Participate in various acquisition related integration projects.

Monitor the global accounting and reporting of for various balance sheet accounts such as capex and depreciation.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree - Accounting or master's in accounting
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 2+ years of experience.

Nice to Have:

  • MBA or master's degree
  • CPA
  • Previous experience in medical device
  • Flexibility for periodic travel when necessary to support professional organizational meetings and finance training
  • Experience in monthly financial processes (month-end close, forecasts)
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel & PowerPoint) and with financial applications (SAP, Hyperion Essbase, GFS, Hyperion)
  • Must have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Experience in large, matrix-managed company
