Position Summary

TranSystems is an architectural, engineering and planning (AEP) consulting firm with a core focus on the transportation industry. This position would be located in our Orlando, FL office or our Fort Lauderdale, FL office.

We are seeking a Senior Multimodal Planner that holds a bachelor’s degree in a field that compliments the job description included below and 5+ years of experience in a role similar to the one described below. The primary duties of the Senior Multimodal Planner are to provide a lead role in all aspects of multimodal transportation planning (freight, rail, transit, roadway, aviation, seaports) and environmental projects as part of an innovative and progressive Multimodal Transportation Team.

This position will be part of a dynamic team of multimodal consultants responsible for growing and sustaining our multimodal transportation practice in Florida. The Senior Multimodal Planner will focus on projects in Florida, but may be involved in projects in other parts of the United States based on need and interest. This position requires an individual with a diverse set of qualifications, skills and interests. A proven ability to lead projects and work well in a team environment is key. Enthusiasm, team building and a willingness to take on new challenges is necessary. The ability to write well and present professionally is also important.

This position will offer flexible work hours, work from home options (as appropriate) and an engaging and casual work atmosphere. Travel within Florida will be occasionally required.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Developing project scopes, fees and approaches and assisting Senior Management with the development of planning processes for a variety of transportation projects.

  2. Ability to monitor projects, oversee staff activities, track budgets and schedules, and lead junior staff.

  3. Business development for future work. This will also involve working with existing clients and existing contracts to generate new opportunities.

  4. Business development activities will include all actions needed to pursue and win new work.

  5. Preparation, planning, analysis and development of project documents.

  6. Participation in planning and engineering projects and designs.

  7. Will work independently in the preparation of assigned project deliverables.

  8. Gather and analyze data to present materials such as graphics and maps.

  9. Work as part of the team to visualize solution concepts and assist in preparing recommendations and alternatives

  10. Compile and analyze data utilizing on-site visits to transportation providers (seaports, transit agencies, airports, etc.)

  11. Compliance reviews and facilitation of programs and services required by federal, state and local regulations

  12. Attend and participate in internal and external team and client meetings


Education/Experience – Bachelor’s degree in a field that compliments or relates to the job description and 5+ years of experience in a similar capacity. A Master’s degree is preferred, but not required.

 Language and Writing Ability – The Senior Multimodal Planner is required to read and interpret documents and reports and provide clear summaries and analysis. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a professional manner is also required. 

 Computer Skills - Microsoft Office Suite (or similar) experience is required. ArcGIS and Adobe Suite skills are a bonus.
