Lonza is searching for a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Engineer for our Portsmouth, NH facility.  Our MES Engineer will work on developing new electronic recipes for our Cell Therapy suite. 


Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop new electronic recipes and workflows for tracking and documenting chain of custody throughout a cell therapy process; ensure that operational data, configurations, processes and reports meet client requirements.

  • Develop electronic batch records and logs for documentation of manufacturing activities.

  • Assist in the roll out of custom MES software by creating relevant documentation, end user training and managing user accounts. 

  • Author/review/own system related documentation, such as SOPs (Stand Operating Procedures). 

  • Providing on and off-hour support to manufacturing. 

  • Assess and implement changes under approved change control or CA/PA. 

  • Provide support to current and future customers via on-site visits, phone and email. 


Key requirements: 

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in a science related field or IT Systems (software focus) is required. 

  • Excellent communication, client consulting, and project management skills. 

  • A core background in either Life Sciences Manufacturing or MES, with complementary skills in the other.

  • Experience with coding or scripting languages (VBS, SQL, Python, Java, etc.).

  • Significant experience in Life Sciences Manufacturing as a supervisor or senior technician, IT Engineering Role supporting Manufacturing, or related industry. 

  • Core Computer IT Skills and capability to learn advanced IT skills.

  • Significant experience implementing software systems and performing tasks in a regulated or pharmaceutical production environment (or software engineering experience). 

  • Understanding of TrackWise, SAP, and LIMS (highly preferred).
