You will work with team leader to ensure adequate clinical and support coverage within departments of responsibility. You will supervise small group (typically 2-10 employees) of technical nonexempt employees (medical technologist and laboratory associates.). Carries out supervisory responsibilities within areas of responsibility in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Provides direction and support to staff to assure departmental effectiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; reviewing personnel actions of subordinates and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Reviews and approves final test results and quality control results. Attests to the validity and accuracy of the results. Performs daily quality control and monitors on-going results. Provides laboratory expertise and guidance to staff and serves as internal consultant on technical issues. Represents the department as needed at meetings and conferences. You will also function as a medical technologist. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent preferred. Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred or equivalent certification. Will accept meeting the federal requirements of CLIA 88 qualifications for laboratory supervisor.Skills and Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years' experience as medical technologist with at least 2years' supervisory experience in a laboratory environment. Demonstrated organizational, leadership, and teamwork skills. Strong analytical, problem resolution and business judgment skills. Must be proficient with Excel & Word and have a general experience working with LIS products. Must be able to multi-task. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
