Job Responsibilities
Accountant - SEC Reporting
As a key member of the financial reporting team, the SEC Reporting Accountant will assist with SEC filings of 10-Q, 10-K, 11-K, Annual Reports, Proxy, press releases and other internal reporting. You will learn reporting processes at Viasat, new accounting pronouncements as well as learn and implement accounting policies. You will help establish new procedures to improve, automate and reduce closing and reporting cycles. You will take ownership of activities including general on-going accounting, reporting and analysis as it relates to primary responsibilities and special assignments.
You will learn and prepare part of the stock compensation valuation, related party disclosures, review XBRL tagging, prepare segment reporting, assess disclosure requirements, as necessary, participate in internal reporting to executive management, etc. You may also coordinate internal and external (10Q / 10K) quarterly reporting deliverables and requirements. Perform equity related balance sheet account reconciliations. Contribute to certain balance sheet and income statement variance analysis. Maintain process documentation supporting key functions. Provide audit and SOX 404 testing support as required.
Requirements
1-2+ years related experience in accounting and/or with SEC filings (10-Q and 10K).
1-2 years with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
Basic understanding of GAAP, financial statements and accounting theory
Highly organized, detail oriented driven individual with drive, skill set of fast learner and propensity to grow within the organization.
Self-directed, with basic self-review skills, outstanding communication skills, analytical skills, working in team environment.
Bachelor's in Business Administration (Accounting preferred)
U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residence status may be required for some projects in which case, verification of such status will be required upon accepting employment.
