Title: Manager -Strategic Sourcing - New Product Introduction

Main Objective:

Manages and oversees new product introduction sourcing strategies while working cross functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management and Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Reviews MPI forecasts and demand planning for all new projects.

  2. Works with Engineering and Product Management to establish new project priorities by product team.

  3. Works in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing teams in all phases of the design process.

  4. Manages & researches new and existing supplier base. Fostering strong supplier relationships to ensure full understanding of Arthrex business dynamics, Quality and delivery standards.

  5. Partners with Supplier Quality Engineering in supplier selection and metric driven supplier management during the product development, through product launch.

  6. Evaluates Suppler performance, risk management, supplier capability development and compliance to regulatory standards.

  7. Manages critical meetings with suppliers on key strategic projects and issues.

  8. Fosters collaborative supplier engagement and competitive pressure to ensure maximum value and cost objectives are met.

  9. Responsible for developing, approving and enforcing all applicable policies and procedures.

  10. Analyzes insourcing verses outsourcing opportunities to obtain the best competitive advantage.

  11. Manages critical engineering change requests and determines disposition of inventory.

  12. Manages initial inventory levels and planning parameters for each product team.

  13. This position may have functional supervisory responsibility for 1 or more Buyer/Planners.

  14. Up to 20% travel, Domestic and International.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelors degree required.

  • MBA or Masters in Supply Chain Management preferred.

  • 8 years experience in Purchasing and or Manufacturing required

    • Preferably in the Medical Device field.



  • Direct MRP experience required.

    • Preferably SAP



  • Project Management experience required.

  • Supervisory experience required.

  • Industry Certification preferred, CPSM, PMP, APICS.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Detailed knowledge of Electronic materials management, regulations, procedures, and records. Experience in Global procurement and Contract Manufacturing. Able to analyze cost to determine and implement opportunities for reduction. Extensive project management skills in coordinating the efforts of sub contract vendors.
