Job Description:

KSBY-TV, The Scripps NBC Station in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Part-Time Content Producer to produce newscasts and online content for KSBY.com and our other social media platforms. Our news producers are market leaders in ratings and pageviews on California’s beautiful Central Coast.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:


  • Write clear, accurate and compelling content

  • Create content in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Enhance newscasts by utilizing graphics, video and station branding

  • Understand the difference between writing for broadcast and online audiences

  • Meet established deadlines to ensure high-speed, high-quality content delivery

  • Coordinate with crews and managers throughout the day to create the best possible product

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:


  • Experience in a newsroom environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field is required - although we will consider applicants currently enrolled in college

  • Understanding of journalistic ethics and libel laws

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:


  • Excellent conversational and creative writing skills

  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills

  • Exemplary grammar, spelling and punctuation skills

  • Experience with social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter

This position is covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement.
