Responsible and accountable for overall management of the patient care unit on a 24-hour basis. Plans, develops and implements a program of patient care services, meeting both community and organization needs. Responsible for setting goals for self and team enhancing the ongoing management and achievement of stated expectations. Works with the Director to determine the impact and implications of actions and decisions within the department, including revenues/ expenses and operating margins. Operates within an overall strategy set forth by the organization. Works with the Director implementing business, customer service and performance improvement strategies for the department.

Develops, implements and monitors action plans to meet or surpass standards of excellence. Is committed

to performance improvement. Interacts with customers (patients, families, physicians, staff) to assess

satisfaction. Participates in developing and monitoring short and long-range plans consistent with the overall

strategic plan. Promotes and initiates performance improvement activities. Provides reports,

recommendations and action plans needed to meet goals, Joint Commission requirements and other

required standards and regulations.

Provides leadership to develop a cohesive team on the assigned unit/floor.

Assures compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards. Is knowledgeable of and applies

current regulatory and accreditation requirements including the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Ohio Department of

Health and Joint Commission.

Develops, implements and monitors action plans to meet or surpass standards of excellence. Is committed

to performance improvement. Interacts with customers (patients, families, physicians, staff) to assess

satisfaction. Participates in developing and monitoring short and long-range plans consistent with the overall

strategic plan. Promotes and initiates performance improvement activities. Provides reports,

recommendations and action plans needed to meet goals, Joint Commission requirements and other required standards and regulations.

Utilizes human, financial, material and environmental resources consistent with stewardship values and the

strategic organizational objectives. Identifies success factors and determines strategies for achievement.

Ensures provision of cost effective and efficient patient services by managing the budget and assuming responsibility for meeting related financial goals.

Collaborates with others in research to improve care. Coaches' colleagues in team building. Makes

sustained contributions to health care by sharing expertise and/or outside the medical facility. Uses the

group process to identify and analyze, and resolve care problems

The manager participates in the evaluation of capital acquisitions to control cost and ensure quality

The manager will supervise staff nurses, LPNs, nursing assistants and technicians as assigned

Required Education:  minimum 2yr Associates Degree - Nursing

Preferred Education:  4yr Bachelor's Degree - Nursing

Licensure/Certification:  Current Ohio RN license.   BLS/ACLS

Management/Leadership Experience:  minimum 1yr.  preferred 3 yrs leadership experience
