Position Title: Fiber Construction Engineer - 5N


 


Position Summary


Position requires experience with outside plant and inside plant cable construction in aerial and underground facilities, with a thorough knowledge of all issues related to local and state permitting, pole and conduit licensing procedures from Utilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Position also requires the capability to manage subordinate project personnel. From project qualification and design through punch-list and close-out, the Fiber Construction Engineer will ensure that projects are completed to client and internal specification, on time, and within budget.


 


Essential Job Functions



  • Work hand in hand with various departments to assure quality product to customers

  • Conduct initial constructability review in accordance with project specifications.

  • Develop Construction Bid Package and competitively bid project to sub-contractors

  • Manage development of permit and construction plans

  • Oversee site construction, managing schedule and subcontractors to client and internal requirements.

  • Coordinate all construction activities with local and state agencies with regards to permitting and licensing.

  • Design new network infrastructure to provide fiber routes to facilitate budget requirements

  • Assist in providing capex budgets for sales organization

  • Be familiar with equipment and equipment applications

  • Perform On-Call responsibilities

  • Attend company and client status meetings including on site visits throughout the market area

  • Schedule your own tasks to accomplish end results

  • Directly report to Fiber Engineering Manager

 


Education/Certifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent

 


Experience/Minimum Requirements



  • Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years construction management experience and 2-3 years direct telecommunications experience.

  • Excellent communications skills, strong organizational skills, a high level of integrity, a strong team player, and attention to details are all critical traits of successful Fiber Construction Engineers.

  • Must be able to climb ladders-heights and manhole depths.
