The Facility Safety Manager, reporting to the Regional Director of Safety has responsibility to oversee, guide and advise operations management regarding the administration of their Warehouse, Transportation and Food Safety Program at the Distribution level. Responsible for administering the national safety program and for instituting proactive measures to prevent or reduce the potential for loss. The FSM will also be responsible for administering the security/loss prevention program within the DC. The FSM will also be responsible for assisting in the DC level safety training program by providing feedback on training and to ensure consistent approach. Responsible for sitting with the GM’s staff to advise on safety trends and recommendations for improvement.
The FSM is a national resource, placed in the DC, to support the day to day operation of the DC regarding their safety/risk program.
Be an advisor to the site leadership team to promote the national safety, transportations, environmental safety and food safety programs.
To stay current with all State, Federal, Local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance regarding local DC operations.
Oversee the effectiveness of the workers compensation program assisting the HR Dept in reducing the overall injury rate.
Be an advisor to the safety committee meetings and monitor the team progress through the leadership of the FSS and completion of projects.
Develop and assist as needed with the new hire safety training program within Warehouse, Transportation and Food Safety.
Responsible for ensuring the national ammonia Process Safety Program is in place and effective within the DC (if applicable).
Coordinate incident investigations and ensure all incidents (no matter how small) get reported and investigated along with recommendations tracked until completion.
▪ 5 to 10 years in administering safety programs within a DC or manufacturing site
▪ Experience in WC, AL and GL claims
▪ System Implementation Preferred
▪ Knowledge of security protocols
▪ Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
