Motor Reliability Program Owner

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



As Motor Reliability Program Owner, you will be responsible for the reliability lifecycle of all motor assets within Pine Bend.  In addition, you will be responsible for the development and execution of motor reliability strategies, performing RCFAs on all applicable motor failures and making recommendations for improvements in motor technology or application.  We are looking for someone with an in depth understanding of FMEA for all asset types. 


A successful candidate for this role will possess solid project management skills and the ability to oversee the work of others.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams (i.e. program manager, product engineering, manufacturing, training, supply management, suppliers, etc.) is crucial.   


 What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Experience in motor in sizing, specification, and performance for specific applications, including knowledge of industry motor standards and specifications (i.e. API, NEMA, etc.).

  • Proficient with field and shop motor testing methodologies.

  • Proficient with synchronous and induction motors controls (i.e. digital drives, VFDs, starter circuitry, synchronization systems, etc.).

  • Knowledge of motor mechanical systems and design implications (i.e. bearings, lube systems, vibration monitoring, etc.)

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or High School Diploma coupled with 10 years of related experience in the motor field



What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in QA/QC of motor OEM and Repair shops.

  • Knowledge of Hazardous Areas, as defined by the NEC, and implications to motor design.

  • Knowledge of industrial wiring and applicable codes and standards

  • Knowledge of motor design and engineering, including:

    • Motor cooling design

    • Effects on physical motor attributes when paired with power electronic drives.

    • Motor core construction features

    • Motor manufacturing processes including wire winding, coil manufacturing, machining, etc.

    • Design benefits and limitations of different motor topologies (i.e. synchronous vs. asynchronous/induction, brushed vs. brushless, etc.)
