Summary

Our Tech Lead brings a deep sense of commitment and purpose to making great products. This position will be responsible for creating and implementing an evolving set of web application and front-end components across our web product suite, while leading a team of r employees and customers.

Responsibilities:


  • Leading a team of front-end engineers towards well-defined outcomes

  • Work closely with design and UX teams to deliver next generation experiences across our applications

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of the organization's business strategy and the rationale behind it.

  • Understands key factors in the business environment that affects the organization's success and able to distill all these business factors into architectural requirements and architectural choices.

  • Assists Leadership in leading the creation of an architecture for a product/application

  • Coordinate with engineers to ensure the successful integration of front and back-end technologies. Creates a "big-picture" view of the product design (conceptual architecture)

  • Assists Leadership in decomposing the system into components or modules, and specifies the components and their interfaces in precise, unambiguous and actionable terms.

  • Assists Leadership in setting technical priorities for the architecture. 

  • Assists Leadership in recruiting new talent to the team

  • Working within a development team to perform a mix of maintenance, enhancements and new development as required.

  • Lead and review design requirements, and provide accountability for both the performance and quality of software delivered

  • Lead implementations for tooling and framework that lend to high performance, quality, and automation

  • Perform code review on changes to the Front-End to ensure consistency and appropriate usage.

  • Consult with other development teams to refine their strategy for approaching Front-End development challenges.

  • Research technical Front-End issues and provide recommendations to enhance Front-End reusability, consistency, performance, and maintainability.

  • Develop and deliver training material to promote Front-End standards and properly engineered Front-End components.

  • Communicate with stakeholders on a regular basis regarding progress, challenges, timelines and end results.

  • Meet stipulated deadlines, juggle multiple projects and shifting priorities, and be a fearless jack-of-all-trades.

Qualifications:


  • 10+ years developing and architecting web application technologies with a heavy usage of modern JavaScript frameworks/languages (NodeJS, ReactJS, AngularJS, BackboneJS)

  • Experience leading technical teams

  • Proficient in OOP approaches for NodeJS

  • 5+ years of NodeJS coding experience

  • Strong understanding of web security (OAuth / Authentication / Authorization)

  • Experience / comfort with responsive UI design and development, CSS and HTML5

  • Experience with web analytics, A/B testing, and user group testing

  • Experience in automated, performance, and cross-browser testing and test driven development using modern JavaScript testing frameworks

  • Embrace end-to-end ownership of projects

  • Ability to effectively prototype and experiment with technologies

  • Experience of owning a significant aspect of the product/application design and implementation

  • Experience with Git, Agile and CI/CD techniques and deployment strategies Problem-solving and time management skills

  • Ability to work in both an individual and team-based environment

  • Ability to work well with distributed teams

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple job tasks simultaneously

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
