POSITION PURPOSE:

Primary hours are Monday to Friday, 7 to 3, on call support as required. This position will also fill the role of Maintenance Foreman. The Automation Technician is responsible for the daily electrical/Instrumentation support across the plant. The position requires good communication skills and teamwork with all departments. Candidates will be chosen based on electrical competence and previous experience. Individuals will need strong time management skills, be self-motivated and self-directed to complete plant electrical projects/repairs with minimal assistance. Also utilize equipment logs and reports, and data from computerized maintenance systems to track equipment reliability and manage time. Our maintenance technicians are viewed as an active supporter of lean and preventative maintenance systems. This position is responsible for performing of their respective duties in order to meet company expectations in regard to food safety, quality, personal safety, cost, housekeeping and sanitation. All employees will conduct themselves in a professional and businesslike manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Electrical skills on the following technologies:
    • PLCs: AB, Siemens, CompactLogix, SLC500, ControLogix,
    • Robots-Fanuc
    • Bagger & Scale systems-Hayssen, Ishida, UVA, Yamato
    • Ovens & and gas burner train experience
    • Vision systems-
    • Servo's: Galil, Kinetix
    • Networks: Ethernet /IP, DH-485, DH+ and Remote I/O, 7 layer OSI
    • Safety devices: Guard I/O, Safety relays
    • Drives: AB: PF4, PF40, PF70, PF520, PF700, Schnider
    • Software: RSLinx, RSLogix suite, FactoryTalk View, Device net, Asset Centre, BOOTP-DHCP Server, RSNetworx, Connected component work bench.
  • Computer Skills including familiarity with: Electrical Software, Outlook, Excel, Word, SAP, and SharePoint
  • Calibration duties including:
    • Calibrate flow meters, RTDs, thermocouples, pressure sensors, scales, etc.
  • Skills on the following electrical testing devices to connect, set-up, and perform testing to troubleshoot plant issues
    • Multimeters:AC/DC voltage and amperage, milliamp, millivolt, OHM's, frequency and min/max readings
    • Oscilloscope: AC/DC voltage and amperage, milliamp, millivolt, OHM's, frequency and min/max readings.
    • Power Logger: AC connections
    • Calibration equipment
  • Updating prints to reflect wiring changes.
  • Utilizing the CMMS- SAP.
  • Participating in plant shutdowns.
  • Maintain close working relationship with equipment operators and line team leaders
  • Troubleshoot emergency equipment failures
  • Abide by all plant rules/policies including safety, GMP regulations and perform good housekeeping practices
  • Working with the other maintenance tech's to increase their electrical skills.

  • Additional Tasks: Contributes to team effort by performing other assigned duties as needed. Maintains cooperative relationship with coworkers and management by communicating necessary information, responding to requests, building rapport; and participating in problem solving methods. Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate Degree in an Industrial Electrical Technical Field or Electrical Industrial or E&I Journeyman is preferred.
  • Highly skilled electrical troubleshooting of plc's, servo's, and safety relays for bad components or faulty wiring.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical print interpretation (European, American, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MCC's, Buss Ducts, panels, control cabinets.
  • Utilize a computer (laptop/desktop) to troubleshoot and repair faulty networked components.


Job Qualifications

Essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:
  • Associate Degree in an Industrial Electrical Technical Field or Electrical Industrial or E&I Journeyman is preferred.
  • Highly skilled electrical troubleshooting of plc's, servo's, and safety relays for bad components or faulty wiring.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical print interpretation (European, American, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MCC's, Buss Ducts, panels, control cabinets.
  • Utilize a computer (laptop/desktop) to troubleshoot and repair faulty networked components.
  • 1+ year experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read ladder logic diagrams.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory.
  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and electrical drive/ control systems relating to production and facilities equipment maintenance is a plus.
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong mechanical skills used to trouble-shoot equipment is required.
  • Be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision and have good organizational skills.
  • Having an understanding or be willing to learn Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to work required shift, meet attendance requirements, and work overtime when required.
  • Ability to wear and communicate with a radio
  • Ability to walk short distances.
  • Ability to hear sound alerts of equipment.
  • Considerable mental and visual effort.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, taste, and smell.
