As a Director, Medical Education working on the US Medical Office team, you will be empowered to lead, direct, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda’s mission by promoting development and growth in key areas of interest to Takeda’s business. A typical day will include:
Strategic, functional and operational oversight, direction and budget accountability for US medical education grants across therapeutic areas of interest.
Partnership with Office of Ethics & Compliance OEC, Legal, and Alliance Management. Subject matter expertise and serves as a consultant to Takeda groups including GMA, TAUs and other Business Units (i.e. Vaccine, Oncology).
Leads engagement with prioritized external organizations (i.e., professional societies, patient groups, health systems,) in collaboration with medical unit leadership and therapeutic area public affairs to gain understanding of patient, practice and system level gaps to inform medical education strategies across Takeda areas of interest.
Innovates to advance Takeda as a leader in medical education.Continuously seeking and encouraging improvements and contributions to the science of learning and behavior change (i.e., via educational research, participation on industry work groups, boards etc.) demonstrating and communicating impact to Takeda and the external healthcare community
Oversees, provides strategic direction and leads team members who manage and execute the medical education strategy, objectives & processes.
Directs, coaches, mentors, and provides opportunities for professional development to team, fellows and employees from other functions as applicable.
Provides senior subject matter expertise and consultation to Medical Affairs and other colleagues. Proactively raises internal awareness of external issues that may impact Takeda business and proposes solutions when applicable.
Represents Takeda on industry medical education and or external organization leadership groups, sharing expertise externally through participation on workgroups, presentations at industry forums and publications as appropriate.
Directs the development of annual needs assessment, medical education and evaluation plans for all therapeutic areas and recommends a prioritized and fiscally responsible functional budget request to Medical Affairs Executive Leadership.Oversees the execution of a multimillion-dollar budget while continually anticipating and evaluating shifts in business priorities that may necessitate adjustments to strategic plans or budgets.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
PhD, PharmD, MS, MPH or equivalent
7+ years’ experience in medical affairs, medical education, scientific/educational granting, or related experience in the pharmaceutical industry
4+ years’ experience leading teams
Possesses superior communication skills, both oral and written, and able to engender trust and respect of colleagues across levels.
Visible leadership, personal management, and ability to be agile, collaborative and work effectively across all levels
Scientific acumen with broad therapeutic area knowledge and ability to interpret and communicate relevant data and information to a wide range of stakeholders
Continuing Healthcare Professional Development (CHCP) certification preferred.
Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings.
Overnight travel may be required (10-20%), including some weekend commitments.
Limited international travel may be required
