Job Description Summary

Lonza is looking for a Facilities Technician at our Tampa, FL sites.  As our Facilities Technician, you will operate and maintain various facilities systems and functions. You will be responsible to ensure equipment is functioning acceptably and to perform preventative and corrective maintenance. If equipment function is not acceptable, the Facility Technician will perform repairs or obtain contract expertise to maintain and/or repair equipment and return to proper function. While performing or overseeing the work of others, the Facility Technician will ensure that all company safety systems are followed and that documentation is developed and maintained per company documentation procedures.

Some of the duties (but not all) for the Facilities Technician include:


  • Perform and train others on routine work; utility system checks, waste and hazardous waste collection and disposal, preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Provide oversight for external contractors with specific focus to ensure work performed safely and satisfactorily.

  • Perform repairs to building infrastructure as instructed such as:  painting, drywall, carpeting, tiling, and patching.

  • Perform operation and maintenance activities on utility and mechanical systems such as: plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, steam system, air compressors, electrical.

  • Develop and or ensure necessary approvals (Work Permit, Change Controls) are in place prior to commencing work or allowing work to commence.

In order to be a strong candidate for the Facilities Technician role, you must have the following:


  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.  Journeyman certificate or license preferred.

  • Strong experience maintaining facility equipment in a GMP setting.

  • Be able to multi-task a wide variety of duties and complete them according to pre-determined deadlines or identified business needs.

  • Be team-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to organize and achieve consensus and manage/direct negotiations.

  • Be able to work in a deadline driven environment.

  • Maintain positive, and professional relationships.
